The accidental contingencies of mutation

Superficie di feltro bianco piegata in onde e rilievi, illuminata di taglio su fondo nero

by Alessandro Carboni

Original music by Danilo Casti. Choreography, performance and set design by Alessandro Carboni; light and choreographic development by Ana Luisa Novais (2026–2027).

The accidental contingencies of mutation extends Alessandro Carboni’s ongoing research on cartography, the body and space, shifting its focus from the urban landscape to matter itself, approached as a territory to be explored. The stage is no longer a flat map but a deep landscape: a large white felt surface that the performer folds, lifts, compresses and deforms, until temporary reliefs, cavities and volumes emerge and dissolve. Matter becomes an active agent — a field crossed by invisible forces, where form is only a passage, a momentary interruption in a continuous flow of change.
